A Journey of Acceptance

As a plus size woman ,my journey trying to accept the body I have was not always easy. I hated that I didn't look like everyone else , I hated that clothes weren't as beautiful for plus sizes as it was for standard sizes. I wished for a flat tummy & a thigh gap. I was always on some fad diet & because of health issues my meds contained steroids which didn't make my situation easier. I took all the hurtful comments, unsolicited advice & snide remarks over the years in my stride usually laughing about it but it made me feel that I didn't deserve to be happy, loved or live a life I dreamed off.

The word body positive crossed my path a few years ago & I was intrigued. I read every blog I could find , started following people I considered to be pioneers in the body positive movement. The conversations I started having with myself changed. I started loving me for the first time without wanting to change anything. I have accepted the fact that I will never be a size 0 and even though I strive to live a healthy life I don't obsess over it. I don't have a thigh gap but neither do mermaids, so I'm practically a mermaid.

A year ago I started my own lifestyle blog which gave me the creative outlet I craved. I have met the most wonderful people in the plus size fashion market who have changed my life & empower me through their stories. I am excited as the world is changing for plus size women, our time has come.

My name is Fadwa and I'm a blogger.
